it's supposed to be best when it is just rising and when it's near the horizon...unfortunately with all the trees up here i can't see the horizon but i tell you, last night it was so bright you could read a newspaper from it.......

I read somewhere that it's supposed to hit the...apogee?.... at around 11;30 PM.......

I think with the moon, derby parties and cinco de mayo, the cops may be busier than usual.

i went out on the deck last night to check it out, couldn't see it at the horizon but damn, when it came over the trees it looked huge and was way brighter than normal......it was almost like it was dusk.....everything cast a dark shadow.......really cool to see.....

Naw, it is really tough to shoot the moon...literally....it is so bright and the rest of the sky is so dark that if you expose to the moon's brightness, all you get is a white orb on a black background...if you expose to the background, the moon would be so overexposed it wouldn't look like the moon......

Wasn't able to get it last night, it was too damn cloudy. Here is my best effort, I need more zoom, this cropped version is lacking some detail. So it is the day after the super moon, moon.

not bad in the exposure dept......all cameras are set to expose to mid tone grey and the moon is pretty close...it was actually a lot brighter than that...if you have photoshop you can probably lighten it up, increase the contrast and it'll look pretty good....the thing is, you need something to put it in perspective....i remember one time coming out of toronto harbor on my boat i turned around the lighthouse and there was this huge harvest moon just about filling the horizon...would have looked amazing set against the shore and the lighthouse....only i was driving and my camera was bured down below somewhere......

Actually, last night the moon was quite yellow when it was close to the horizon, when these pictures where taken. It wasn't until it reached around 30 degrees above the horizon where it became that brilliant white. I escaped to the inside to get away from the bugs by that time. But feel free to use the picture and make any adjustments you feel are necessary.
