I worked for a man who would often say things such as:

'Be a gentleman and apologize to her'

Apparently, even when a woman was wrong, I was to apologize to her because I have a penis and she has a vagina.

'It doesn't matter what she did, we are talking about your behaviour.'

Apparently, no matter what a woman did, she was not at fault. Men were always wrong.

This guy had no respect for women, but he presented himself as having the utmost respect for them. In reality, he saw them as inferior human beings who needed to be coddled.

If a guy defended a woman being berated, he be a gentleman, if a woman defended a man who was being berated, she'd be a gentlewoman, a lady. Both would be nice people, mature adults. No one should allow anyone to be "berated", especially online. I believe if you have a beef with someone take it to them, settle it face to face, if that can't be done then blog, lol!!.
Bullies berate, children call one another names, mature adults converse.There is a difference.
