I have a penchant for some television and I often get into shows that will get cancelled and leave me completely dissatisfied with the way things are. Good, intelligent, and fascinating shows that get killed long before there time (Read Carnivale, OZ, Firefly,Deadwood, Defying Gravity - the list goes on) while shit like "Joisey Shore" and "Keeping up with the Kardashians" (Not a Star Trek spinoff) run for 6 or 7 or 8 seasons.

I'm hoping that my luck hasn't run out with this show and that it will at least run long enough for a satisfying conclusion to this show.

Episode One was killer. and makes a few interesting comments about the U.S. in the first 10 minutes which sets off what turned out to be a very enjoyable show. It's basically about a news program at a network that appears to not kowtow to commercial interests or to whatever political party that they may feel an affinity to.

I just hope that they don't dumb this down to "Gray's Newroom" or "Newsroom - 90210"

This sounds good. I haven't gotten into a tv series in years.

I miss the West Wing. Didn't care for the politics but loved the intellectual grist.

I agree jesus, for the life of me I can't understand how so many shows that are absolute crap go on and on and on.......The thing about deadwood, the show was basically historically accurate in what went on....all the major plot lines were based on actual events (though changed for dramatic purposes etc). The characters were all real life people....

I was kind of surprised when it ended the way it did but after a little research, not much really happened in deadwood after what's his face left......

Anyhow, I saw the previews for The Newsroom and will have to find a place online to watch it because it does look interesting....

I am finding more and more shows, music, literature that are talking about the......dumbing down? of america.....pointing out things like fast food, weight problems, crime, and all the little idiosycracies that make americans americans....and stupid tv shows are no different......

I just watched the 10th episode of "The NEWSROOM" and right now it's still the highest rated show that I have seen in a couple of years.
Smart, funny and thought provoking.
Some of the relationship stuff I can live without - however I'd totally want to fuck the brains out of Lisa before I even THOUGHT about fucking Maggie.
I would bang Olivia Munn into the next millennium.
I'm not sure why but I look at Jeff Daniels and I see Tom Brokaw? Not sure why.

What ever happened to shows that ended the first season after 13 episodes? OR 26?
