I've dated more than a few women who were breastfeeding at the time, been involved (closely) with friends who have gone through it, and frankly, seen more than my fair share of babies having lunch lol....to a one they all did the "chest to chest" method....so, I'd hazard to say, that's why nipples typically are on the front or (luckily for some) on top of the breasts.

One thing buddy didn't think to consider: when a woman gives birth or is breastfeeding, her boobs get gyNORMous...and the nipples tend to point forward because of this.....
