I was at Winner's this morning to purchase a wallet. My current wallet is falling apart.
I walked up to the register to pay for my purchase and the lady asked me if I wanted to make a donation to the local women's shelter. I asked her if I could make a donation to the local men's shelter instead or at best to a shelter than helped BOTH men and women, since men are much more likely to be homeless then women are likely to be.
She said that the store wasn't collecting donations for men. So, I asked her why not. She said she didn't know. So, I asked her why I should donate to a store's fundraising effort that specifically excludes men. She apologized to me and said she realized that women get more help than men do. She also said Winner's should be helping men out as well, not just women.
Well, at least she admitted the truth. I respected that and I told her that because she was being honest with me, I would donate after all. So, I gave her $5 toward the women's shelter.
On Sunday, I was at the Milton Outlet Mall. I went into Haggar clothing and bought a pair of blue pants. I looked around and counted 6 female employees working in this men's-only clothing store. I asked the girl at the register why there were 6 females and 0 males working in a men's only clothing store. She didn't have an answer for me.
Disgusting. Totally, disgusting. Why does it happen. We have a society full of Manginas. Princess Auto employes more women than men on the retail floor and so does Haggar Men's clothing. Yet, no one but me sees the discrimination? La Senza employing women over men makes sense. Sephora doing the same makes sense. But men's stores refusing to hire men?
