This Durham, North Carolina train overpass bridge has stood its ground for the last 100 years, but as you can see presents a serious nightmare for the truckers who try to pass underneath it.

It's not the bridge that's well built; it's the American made vehicles are crummy!:rofl!:

Couldn't they had built the bridge just a few inches higher :unknw:

On the other hand don't these drivers know the height of their trucks?.

we have one of two of them in the Buffalo area.

Railroad Bridges were built to a single standard for a particular bridge.
They was built well and at a time most roadways were either brick or cobblestone.

As time progressed the roads were paved over and the vertical distance from roadway to deck shortened.

One in Buffalo had some many layers of pavement under it that trucks were constantly getting stuck.

eventually the DOT stripped over 1 foot of pavement from under that bridge and it has helped.

Like my Dad used to say. There is an explanation to everything that makes sense.

:rofl!:

I feel sorry for the people......
I seen this happened once when I was in High School..

So the truckers are in their right to pass through that bridge as the sign is incorrectly posted?. Ant lawsuits that you know of?.

If I am the driver and see the bridge is too close to my liking I would stop the truck just before entering and double check it.

Not unless the Government body screws up. I still have to hear the facts if the dimensions' on the signs are accurate.
