I think alcohol brings out a person's true nature.

People who are nice, but shy, become more sociable, or flirtatious, or do things that are 'stupidly brave', like epic fail skateboard stunts. People who are violent, but keep that hidden, feed their inner demon, and use that as an excuse. After a certain point, the demon is their true face, and the regular appearance is their disguise.
