Agreed. In Canada, a prisoner has the right to a doctor, psychologist and a dentist. Although the dentist is once a year and there is a nominal fee. Oh don't forget, their medications are paid for by our government, plus they can watch the Leafs games but that's part of their punishment. They do have a bed, three meals, clean clothing, toilet paper, tooth brush/paste, shower daily.
Believe me, there were times in my career as a CO I thought how easy it would be. Think about it, they get all of the above for free and don't pay taxes. When the entire cost of a Paul Bernardo or Russell Williams is figured out, it's in the millions over 25 years.
Some will say that criminals have lost their freedom, please believe when I say a large portion of them, even more than half, have it better than would on the street and are taken care of by our system.
