Made with Love

There is no Santa.

I refuse to believe Santa does not exist! Because otherwise, who the heck has been filling my stocking every year?!:SayWhat?:

LOL :biggrin2:

A friend of mine (past tense) told her kids that Santa wasn't real because she was selfish.
She didn't want to give credit to an "old white man with a beard giving her kids presents" when it was her doing the gift giving.
I remember her kids were heart broken.
If it matters, she's from the West Indies.

This whole santa talk is making me sad now....:sorry2:

Don't be sad Dina! This was all just a goof. The truth is that the concept of Santa is a phenomenal, uplifting premise that instills a sense of selflessness and self-worth in all children, regardless of gender, race, color or creed. He teaches kids about the importance of giving, and preaches equality and unconditional love towards all those around us, in a effort to promote peace and goodwill to all the peoples of the earth all year round. I see the positive influence his words and values have on the behaviours of children every year, and through them, renews my faith in adults as fundamentally good as well.

I couldn't care less WHAT Santa looks like, period, as long as the story, traditions, and values associated with him are never lost to the advancing political correctness of modern civilizations. If this can be accomplished, I doubt if Santa himself would care if we poke fun at him from time to time!

Generations of children have been threatened with the prospect of a cancelled Christmas if they don't behave, but these parents have put their money where their mouth is and actually pulled the plug.

Fed up with their three boys' "ungrateful", "entitled" and "disrespectful" behaviour, John and Lisa Henderson from Utah have taken the drastic step of cancelling Christmas.

In practice this means 11-year-old Caleb, 8-year-old Davis and 5-year-old Beckham will have no presents on Christmas morning. Instead of writing letters to Santa asking for gifts, they will be asking him to find someone who needs their presents more.

Explaining their decision on her Over the Big Moon blog, Mrs Henderson wrote:

"We gave them good warning, either it was time for their behavior to change or there would be consequences. We patiently worked with them for several months and guess what, very little changed. One day after a particularly bad display of entitlement John said, 'we should just cancel Christmas.' And, so thats what we did."

Instead of spending time and money on presents, the family have been carrying out community service projects with their sons "to teach them the pleasure of giving rather than continuing to feed their childhood desire for more".

However, their festive season won't be completely devoid of tradition. The Hendersons have conceded that they will still be putting up decorations and enjoying Christmas food. Their boys will also be allowed to receive presents from their grandparents and friends.
The family have received a mixed reaction to their decision. One commenter wrote on their blog: "I think what you are doing is wonderful and more parents need to teach their children this! The greatest gift of all is giving."
Another wrote: "I completely disagree with this parenting move... There are ways to have Christmas and teach lessons."

However, the family are insistent that Christmas morning wont be any less special without Santa coming.

"Instead we can enjoy our cinnamon rolls, play games as a family, and truly enjoy the few presents they did get"
