This is a Supermodel?

Okay this is a rant, at the risk of being totally politically incorrect, I was reading this article down below, about a fashion model who just came out of the closet as being intersex, she's described as being a supermodel! Looking at her picture, I had to wonder how she even got a contract modelling, let alone becoming a supermodel!?!? Even if she wasn't an intersex, I would've thought she looks like a guy, or even for a guy she looks like a plain-jane kind of guy. I guess it's true what they say, the fashion industry is run by gay men, who have absolutely no interest in what a real woman looks like, and therefore they end up picking boyish looking women as models. :no:

Her name is Hanne Gaby Odiele. Honestly, would anyone consider her to be a representative for how attractive women can get? I don't know, maybe there are other considerations for skills when choosing a model? Perhaps they need to be able to put their hands on their waist in a specific supermodel way? Maybe they need to be able to twirl perfectly while holding a jacket on their shoulders? So the qualifications for being a supermodel might be a lot harder than I imagine, other than just looking really hot? Hmmmmmm

You are right, the qualifications for being a super model aren't as you've thought, just "looking very hot". They're hangers for clothes, and having a certain "type" of look, depending on the time/fad/ style, of the day, is more important than being "conventionally beautiful. Being a super model has to do with many things, one is popularity. Many models don't fit into what most would consider good looking. Since modelling does have more to do with just looking good. Especially runway and ironically editorial modelling.

I'm currently watching an anime called Knights of Sidonia. It's a post apocalyptic anime, and one of the main characters is neither male nor female but is a third gender that can mate and reproduce with either males or females. Yes this is a thread tangent...

Yes.

He said the doctors asked his parents which sex they wanted him to be and they chose male, so he had surgery on the female parts (not sure exactly what procedures he had done) and I think he went on hormone therapy to help him develop normally as a male.

I sensed there was something a little 'different' about him, but if he hadn't told me, I would never have guessed.

That is fascinating. I don't know what I would do in that situation. I hate surgery on little kids and I think I might have let the kid grow up as is.
