Today The Senate Discusses our fate

Mackay came out today and said newpapers, magazines, web sites, servers even face book or twitter can be charged if advertising escort services. Sexworkers can advertise their own services but have will have no where to do so. What a joke, wow.

I just posted this but thought MM wouldn't mind having it here too. :biggrin2:

Sex worker threatens to name politicians; ejected from Senate hearing :clapping2:

A high-profile sex worker who led a successful challenge of Canada’s prostitution laws was kicked out of a Senate committee hearing Wednesday after threatening to make public a list of politicians who hire prostitutes.

Terri-Jean Bedford was among those testifying to a Senate committee considering Bill C-36, the Conservative government’s prostitution bill that was tabled after Ms. Bedford’s Supreme Court case led to the existing laws being struck down.

As I said in the sticky, Bedford's outburst does *not* help the cause in the least. It may have harmed things.

I believe we've been too apologetic for what we do so far. The ladies have nothing to be ashamed of and the clients do not either provided they treat the women with respect and the business transaction is of a consensual nature.

Bedford came out swinging and took the hyprocites on at face value.

Although the Liberal Senator was on her side and was trying to pull answers from her that were favorable to the cause.

The Harpo government has made up its mind and will ram this bill through. Note how all their questions (neo cons senators) are directed at their supporters, they try to ignore all witnesses against the bill. It is a calculated ploy because they only want supporters on record if and when this reaches the SCC and they look back on the transcripts.

Harpo and his neocons are playing this off in playbook fashion, we need a Bedford to shake things up and take them off their game although I wish this never reached this point with the first challenge.

I say she/we had nothing to lose. Odds are heavily that it will pass so why not let them pee their pants a little.

In the long game, you have to not burn your bridges.
