Made with Love

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford drunk walking along the danforth!

my daughter counsels people.

I expect she has met more "lepers" than most of us ever will.

It is the trust I havr in my daughter that allows me to sleep at night.

:good:

Baz - people are the way they are through various circumstances. I am by no means saying that Ford was trying to reach out or anything, but if by your account that "thugs" are suppose to hang out with "thugs" only, how else would they be but "thugs" as they won't get a chance to be socialized any differently. If you were to quote teaching, I believe the lesson is to be in the world and not of it - meaning you should not segregate yourself into you own little circle only but be inclusive to everyone, it doesn't mean you have to indulge in behaviour you disagree with.

It's called pandering to the masses, it's a political move. He appeals to the average joe, even the so called thugs.

Bottom line is, I like Ford, he's a driven Mayor and has gotten things cleaned up at city hall that were needed. So what if he's not everyone's cuppa tea.

Agreed that he has certainly done some good things for the city - just that unfortunately, politicians are public figures and a positive public image is important. He has just been a public relations nightmare and it doesn't look like that is changing any time soon.

Exactly, very well stated Casanova. Sheik, I voted for the Mayor but in my opinion the side shows and buffoonery have totally side tracked any good he has done. He also has jumped on the higher taxes for subway kick when he promised no tax increase if he could help it. Do you really believe Scarborough needs a subway? An LRT would service Scarborough fine at a much lower cost, again politics enters into the equation and of course it was during a by election and the Liberals jump on board as usual.

This may sound surprising coming from me but I do believe everyone has a right to their private life, Ford included.

I am surprised he's left to roam the streets without an entourage or security protecting him considering he does have his detractors. It's obvious common folks are drawn to him because both Doug and Rob come off as regulars Joes.

He's definitely not a polished politician but I really believe he will not be beaten in the next election unless he's caught doing something illegal that he cannot get out of.

In the mean-time the conservatives have much bigger problems with the likes of Pamela Wallin and her piggish behavior at the trough, which all conservative are constantly harping about the left:no:

This is only the crumble on the top of the apple pie, more will come out as they start to cut into the crust!!:good:

I agree everyone SHOULD have a privacy expectation, but the reality is public figures, whether they are pop stars, movie stars, or politicians, are always under scrutiny. Whether they are held to different standards of acceptable behaviour depends on their role. We expect Charlie Sheen to be a bad boy and actually celebrate that. We expect our politicians to be honest. They seldom are. Ford was elected to be a public figure. He knew what he was getting into. If he can't present himself as a respectable figure, does he deserve to represent those who expect that in their mayor?

He is a liar. "A couple of beers"

Anyone believes that, I've got swamp-land for sale. PM me. :blush2:

$20/acre, plus I validate parking :good:

Well then, that's a deal! I'll get my people to talk with your people and put the deal together.

One question, is this swamp land in Toronto? If it is, has Rob Ford eliminated the double land transfer tax hit yet because there is no way I'm paying the double hit??
