I really hope that is not the case. He clearly gave the dude a bad beating. But who knows anymore.

Okay here is my take on the whole situation:

You have all these cops who have zero experience in dealing with the task at hand.

Couple that with the professional shit disturbers who ran amok in the earlier days making the cops look bad.

Now add in all these joe average dudes who figure they will be really cool and exercise their democratic rights and go down and protest.

That my friends is a combustible situation that was tailor made for ''innocents'' to get hurt.

Anybody with an ounce of brains would have stayed very far away. So I don't have much sympathy for the dude who got hurt.If
He wanted to be a martyr then he got his wish.

bosco, I can definitely see where you are coming from but arent cops trained in this kind of situation before? Despite the 'combustile situation', I don't think anyone deserves that kind of beating especially when he/she didn't have a weapon. Last time I checked, being a smartass isnt a weapon unless you live in Iran or China.

Remember all the training in the world is no substitute for real life experience. Put it this way if the conference was held here again this year I'm betting it would handled quite a bit different and we wouldn't hearing the same magnitude of complaints of brutality.

And as for the people who got hurt well it like I always say if you put yourself in harms way then don't be surprised if harm finds you.

They arrested something like 1100 people, and have successfully prosecuted how many? 0?
The “authorities” did not shut down the downtown area; if they foresaw a potential problem. They should have created an exclusion zone that encompassed what they felt was appropriate. Fenced in the entire core. They didn’t do that. Ask yourself why.

I'll try it again for you, no matter how much you train and go through scenario situations it is nothing compared to the adrenaline rush and panic felt when involved it real life engagement. The cops to my knowledge did not have any actually real life experience dealing with a demonstration of this size.

You did see the first day right? The coordinated attack on the shops and police cars by the guys with their heads covered that miraculously emerged from the crowd. how do you arrest someone who can't be identified?

They didn't do that because they didn't foresee the escalating problem on their hands. The whole thing logistically was a mess right from the get go. It would have gone a lot better if it would have been held out of town but unfortunately hindsight is 20/20.

To put in my two cents. Shit disturbers or protestors whatever you want to call them have a right to choose whether they want to be in a certain location and protest. They also should know danger will come to them by many various circumstances that are unexplainable.

Cops have no right to injure but at the same time they are human and have fears as well. Then the factor of anger comes to them and may use too much force without thinking.

I am not taking sides just reading it as it is.
