Toronto residents, stakeholders open to safe drug injection site: study

that's the first step in legalization of drugs like heroin....acceptance.

I'd support a "hot shot" injection site. Whereby you get the best, most purest heroin imaginable for free......and a safe place to inject it......the kicker is it would be your last high....

What you mean by that?.

He means they would pass from this life.

Reminds me of the great series ''the Wire'' where this was attempted off the books so to speak.

^^^ exactly........least they'd go out with a bang....and on a "high" note heheheh.....

I have NO sympathy whatsoever in any way shape or form for those addicted to meth, crack or heroin. Sometime they made a conscious decision to do this shit and pay the price for that decision. I don't see why the rest of society should be forced (and I do mean f o r c e d) to deal with that decision.

Anywhere there's a methodone clinic set up, the area is a dump, local businesses have to deal with these dregs of society, and the entire area is crime riddled.

how about tobacco or weed/hash

Not a problem because a) tobacco is still legal (for now) b) two are not addictive and c) if one partakes of all three, they can still function perfectly normal, lead perfectly normal lives, and hold down jobs, raise a family etc d) you can't OD on any.....with weed/hash, if you smoke too much you just get too lazy to roll another spliff or pack a bowl......if fact, if you do weed/hash you become LESS dangerous to society, not more lol.....

You could compare this addiction to alcohol too but the big difference there is SOME people get addicted to alcohol whereby ALL people get addicted to crack, meth, heroin. It is not a casual drug. You try it, you get hooked, EOS. Now some maintain a reasonable life while partaking, but the vast majority head into a downward spiral onto the street, crime, etc....

I've never seen anyone committing crimes to support their weed habit.

Have you?

...are you kidding me. Recently my friend's neighbour was complaining that his son was stealing money from him to support his weed habit. Who knows what else his son does to support his habit.

Yet I do know that heroin is much worse. That stuff drives people insane. I actually visited East Vancouver near Gastown/Chinatown a few times......that place is like hell. I honestly don't know if they can ever clean it up.

What is your take on this?.

I can see how there would be benefits as far as disease reduction, and getting the behavior out of public areas. But does it seem like government sanctioning illegal activities?

It will be interesting to see what the Supreme Court says, what is the usual turnaround time for decisions? It wouldn't seem to make sense for TO put too much effort in before that ruling is made.

hehehehehehe

The operative words there are "HIS son" and "from him".....that is 100% different than the kid breaking into a nieghbour's house, robbing the family at knife point and killing the father....(which happens all too often with heroin addicts). Hell, the problem with weed is the kid is too lazy to go get a knife, actually pick UP the knife, then walk all the way down the block and bust through the doo....ah fuck it, where's the doritos?

BTW: your friend's neighbour? Sure it wasn't your friend's neighbour's buddy from work's son's hockey coach's orthidontist?

tboy I agree with regarding herion and obviously theres a high correlation between heroin and crimes.

yet when dealing with any kind of addiction, people would do anything to get their usual "thrill" ...sometimes it means getting into trouble with the law.

regarding weed/hash, I couldnt care less if the govt legalize them or not.

I just thought of something regarding your friend's neighbour's kid stealing money....hell, what kid HASN'T stolen money out of their mother's purse, dad's wallet, or cookie jar? Shit.....I used to scoff pennies to buy bubble gum!!!

I'm all for it, so long as it's not in my back yard. I say move it to Oshawa and call it 'city beautification'.

.... this is purely a coincidence (no I am not lying and there is nothing to gain out of it)...today at 7 ish pm, I was on a streetcar sitting at the back....saw a father with his 2 kids (anywehre from 6-9 yrs old). forgive me for saying this, they were "red -neck" caucasian.....anyway his father grabbed something from his pocket while his 2 kids were yapping away...and boy, you could smell something....it was quite strong and it was definitely weed. He had to open the window but there was no way of hiding the smell. Suddenly I was thinking of this thread....and said to myself, what would be your reaction if you saw a father rolling up a joint in front of his kids on a public transportation....

ps. I have never stolen any money from my parents..
