I hated when vacationing these jerks will wake up at 6 am, drop their towels and chairs on the best spots and reappear hours later. I complained a couple of times and not of any hotel manager was willing to do anything about it. Guess what?, my next vacation is Italy.

In Italy, they've decided to fight them on the beaches.

By imposing hefty fines, authorities are hoping to deter towel hogs who stake an overnight spot with sun loungers and umbrellas.

The "ancient and ingrained" habit has been blighting Italy's crowded summer shorelines for decades, according to La Repubblica website.
Now coast guards are trying to draw a line in the sand.

They've been swooping on beaches from Tuscany to Sardinia and threatening perpetrators with fines of 200 euros ($220).

Are things really that bad in Italy?

Yup, says La Repubblica, which reports the seizure of 30 umbrellas, 37 loungers, towels and even items of swimwear on a 100-meter strip of sand in the Tuscan resort of Livorno.
In Roseta Capo Spulico, in Italy's deep south, 200 umbrellas and beach chairs were seized after complaints from tourists.

The culprits behind such acts of beach hoggery are said to range from unscrupulous umbrella operators hoping to bilk tourists, to eager sun seekers reserving space for friends and relatives.

In Tuscany's Cecina, any attempt to leave unattended equipment on a beach before it opens at 8.30 a.m. has now been made illegal.

And that criminal record ain't going to fade with those tan lines.

I used to watch them from the hotel balconey and cursed them for not playing fair. Now they have to put their money where their ass sits.

KFC just unveiled an absurd new product: chicken-scented sunscreen

Starting Monday, the chicken chain is giving away 3,000 free bottles of Col. Sanders' Extra Crispy Sunscreen. US residents can receive the SPF 30 by visiting ExtraCrispySunscreen.com.

"Suntan lotion always smells like lotion," KFC CMO Kevin Hochman told Business Insider. "So we thought — why not make it smell like fried chicken?"

The company will be giving away the sunscreen on a first-come, first-serve basis while supplies last. There's a limit of one bottle per household.

The sunscreen follows the June launch of an ad campaign starring George Hamilton as the "Extra Crispy Colonel," promoting the chain's Extra Crispy Chicken. According to Hochman, response to the Extra Crispy Colonel's ads "blew away [KFC's] expectations," prompting the company to look into new ways to extend the summer campaign. Then, someone suggested KFC sunscreen.

"These scents bring up these memories," often of childhood visits to KFC, Hochman says. "We think that idea is why the sunscreen will catch on."

WTF?.

Only ever had one person challenge me when they returned to find their towels gone and me in "their" seat.
