Don't know about Troops, but I seem to recollect Tboy leaving in a snit early winter around the time debate was raging here on appropriate/inappropriate usage of a common descriptive terminology for female genitalia.
An argument was put forward by a respected female contributor that the word "cunt" should be banned on this board because of its pejorative connotations. Tboy favored using it for vulgar emphasis when wishing to attack or offend anyone whose opinion he considered contradictory or stupid.
For a while the mods did lean toward the view that civility should require any reference to cunt to appear as ****. Great debate on freedom speech ensued. A third line of thought emerged, arguing that the word itself is not offensive, but the context in which it is used that counts.
For example, this affectionate line from Leonard Cohen's Beautiful Losers:
Like Cohen I worship at the Y, and I love cunt. I also abhor the pejorative usage, and the word seldom occurs in my spoken vocabulary, although my tongue is no stranger to "fuck" in every variation possible.
I believe that third line of thought held sway and the word "cunt" does not get autocorrected to astericks anymore.
But Tboy took his ball and went home before that thread came to that resolution.

*gasp* I would have never thought Tboy to be a suck and suck out. Thank you Art, you sir are a wealth of information.

I miss Tboy too. 
I also wish TROOPS would come back, as I did on occasion find him amusing. I also took note of the difference in the tone of his posts here and previous posts by him I had read elsewhere, and I appreciated the effort he made to tone it down here.
It's not always bad for a board to have an Instigator In Residence, and both Tboy and TROOPS were good at that.

He did have his own agenda. Troops not as important as having Tboy back.

Tboy was a fun member to have around, always spoke his mind and was always up for a good debate.
Troops knew his bars, gave me some great recommendations.

Troop is hilarious and blunt. Tboy provides interesting debates and perspectives and he's honest about them. Now regarding this respected member mentioned by Artman, this member advocates censorship and becomes vindicative when someone disagrees with her/him. This person doesn't deserve my respect at all (no pun intended Artman. By the way, you have a gift with regards to your creative writing!)
