Two dead after plane crash in Markham

At least two people are dead after a fiery plane crash in Markham Tuesday afternoon, city officials say.
The pilot, a person from Burlington, and at least one passenger were killed when the plane crashed through the roof of an office building and burst into flames, said Markham mayor Frank Scarpitti.

The pilot killed in a plane crash in Markham on Tuesday has been identified as the co-owner of a Burlington pet hotel. Although police have not confirmed the identity of the pilot or the passenger, the pet-boarding business said it had lost its founder, Paul Jess.

It remains unclear who the passenger was on the four-seater, single-engine plane. But several reports have said it was a female.
