The young driver of a $430,000 Lamborghini was scandalized when he was handed a $568 ticket.
The hard-done-by West Vancouver 22-year-old apparently couldn’t find the dough to pay his car insurance — and then hotly disputed the fine for not having his affairs in order.
“When the police officer stopped the driver, he soon realized that the car was not insured,” said Cpl. Robert McDonald, spokesperson for the RCMP’s Lower Mainland District Traffic Services.
“When the officer gave the driver a $568 fine for not having insurance, the driver actually complained the fine was too much money.”
The top-of-the-line 2012 Lamborghini Aventador was pulled over initially in Richmond for what is often a vanity infraction — high-end drivers don’t want to mess up their vehicle’s pretty noses with an ugly licence plate.
Since it wasn’t insured, the Lamborghini was towed away, and the driver will have to decide whether he can find enough cash to pay the ticket.

I hope he can not pay the fine and they auction it off

yep, I"m with you on this one......that'd be SO apropos eh?

Better yet if it was leased, then he'd STILL have to make the payments even though he was no longer in possession of the car hahaha wouldn't that be a kicker?

How the hell did he buy the car is my question and you need to insure it to drive it off the lot?

no
you need an insurance card, so you need to make one payment

Why won't they name the kid. Would love to know who his Father is.

There's something definitely fishy in Vancouver with not naming this turb.

My assumption is that this dickwad is a drug dealer, who saved up all of his cash that he stashed upto now, till he could buy this car. Being young and stupid, he didn't think far enough ahead, so he didn't think he needed to save up for insurance too. Insurance on this thing must be about $10,000-$20,000 at least. He's probably also spent all of his remaining money putting gas into this thing, so obviously he can't pay for this fine.

Last time I looked into it, insurance on super cars was 10% the value of the vehicle....so it should be around $45,800.00.

sorry, i can't edit my posts.....some muck up with my laptop but I erred: the amount should be $43,000.00

Don't get me started on insurance companies. I just received my renewal and they have increased my policy by $380.00 for no reason!

It's time to shop around, BASTARDS!

If that's the case, then that's case, as I said, it must've been at least $10-20k, so you're figure would cover that. For $45K, you can buy a pretty decent new luxury car each year.

I used to go through TD Meloche Monnex "insurance brokers" at one time. Now the assumption is that insurance brokers are independent, and should find you the best rates from several different companies at once. This one being big, nation-wide and owned by TD, it also owned its own insurance company, so the quotes you would get would always come from there, it never looked around at any other company's insurance rates. I got rid of them over 5 years ago, and went with a local insurance brokerage company. Much better service, and obviously much better rates. Each year, I call them up around renewal time, and they do a thorough search from several companies, and get me the better deals, they've switched insurance companies for me a couple of times already. Consider going local, if you haven't already. I don't know why TD MM even bothers to pretend to be a broker, it might as well just say that it is the insurance company, which it is.

If you deal directly with the insurance company, in theory, you should save some money.

I stopped using MM but then returned to them after I had to shop a cheating non-bank insurance company and broker that gave me shitty service. I get a specific, group discount.

I didn't think it was that high. Even for an owner who's driven exotic cars for several years (not a newbie)? I should ask someone I know who owns a Lambo.
