A Vancouver medicinal marijuana dispensary has installed what they say is Canada’s first vending machine for pot.
“We put it in the vending machine to cut down on theft and handling,” says Chuck Varabioff of the BC Pain Society, located at 2908 Commercial Drive.
“It’s packaged up and sealed professionally. So you come in, you buy your product, it’s fresh, it’s quick and easy, and you’re out here in minutes.”

Kids using e-cigarettes to stealth-smoke pot
Here's another reason to be leery of electronic cigarettes: Apparently, they've become a popular way for smoking pot. Edmonton police have issued a warning that local high school students have been caught sparking up, if you will, e-cigarettes loaded with marijuana oil, CTV News reports.
Battery-powered e-cigarettes that allow users to inhale heated vapours dispensed by liquid cartridges of nicotine or other substances have been marketed as a socially acceptable form of smoking. No nasty smell, no second-hand smoke, no butts.
But the e-cigs are being re-purposed to allow potheads to light up largely undetected because the devices don't generate marijuana's characteristic odour. "It’s prevalent, it’s everywhere. Kids are jumping on this pretty quickly,” said Sgt. Kelly Rosnau, of the Edmonton Police Service's school resource officer unit.
Rosnau said school staff have seen students "vaping" but been unaware some are smoking pot right under their noses, CTV News said. “In talking with teachers, with SROs, they're now realizing that in the past they saw these devices and really were unaware of what they were or what they were being used for,” he said.
That stealth-toking quality is a major draw for e-cigs, Britain's Daily Mail reported last October. Couple that with U.S. data showing use of e-cigs among American middle- and high-school student doubled between 2011 and 2012, and authorities are getting worried.
