A loaded question, perhaps. It's hard for me to understand long term relationships, as the longest one I've had was a couple of years but as a women with a high sex drive I can't understand why those who commit to one another for any length of time would stop wanting one another sexually. I know many things can cause stresses, and stress can make life tough, but to not want to be intimate with someone you love, I just don't get. What's your view?

That is why all marriages should have a 5 year contract and renewable if both parties agree. If not, go your separate ways and find another one. It's so simple and wonder why it never caught on.

You cannot have steak and lobster everyday. After a while it just tastes like macaroni and cheese.

I hope it s not from Kraft Dinner.. gross. :biggrin2:

Monogamy really is so silly. I can understand that there are different stressors when you build a life together over a lengthy period of time. I just find it so childish that if one person in the relationship refuses to have sex for whatever their (understandable) reasons, the other person is forbidden to seek it elsewhere. It creates a very lopsided hostile environment IMO.

Women refuse to have sex in a relationship. It is not men who refuse.

The silly behaviour is from the female side.

That's not always the case honeybun. :NoNoNo:

I waited until my wedding night to have sex with my ex. I was pretty confused when it turned out to be, 'wham, bam, thank you ma'am'.

I didn't find out my ex had a really low sex drive until he started giving me shit every time I wanted to have sex. I was devastated when he usually refused me, and his refusing to have sex was one of the reasons we ended up getting a divorce.

Both men and women refuse sex for different reasons...

As for the original question though, for me, it was time, energy, over familiarity, loss of sexual attraction, kids, real life, etc... There are so many reasons. What it comes down to, though, is that if you want to have a successful and happy sexual relationship with your SO, it takes both parties to tango successfully.
