Have their home bulldozed?
Nearly everyone has had or has a “neighbor from hell,” you know the one, he/she calls the cops on everyone in the neighborhood for any transgression real or imagined, serious or negligible. Thankfully, few have had the misfortune of living in the same neighborhood as Ana Maria Moreta Folch, of St. Johns county Florida, she takes the term “neighbor from hell” to previously unimagined heights.
The 62-year-old woman determined that the sort of people who had been renting the mobile home next door to her home were “unsavory” and that she would be doing her neighborhood a favor if she found a way to prevent any more such people from moving into the neighborhood. To that end she located and hired a heavy equipment operator to bulldoze the home and its septic tank.
When the contractor arrived he told police that Folch let him into the home with a key to show him that there was no one living there and told him that she owned the property. Thus assured, he went to work demolishing the home.
According to the Florida Times Union Maria Gottfried, who told police she had owned the home since 2006 arrived as the demolition was underway and promptly called police to the scene.
Ms. Folch was arrested and charged with criminal mischief, a third degree felony.
She says that she believes that in the past residents of the mobile home had broken into her car and that they were always “unsavory” characters although Gottfried said that she had never had any disputes of any kind with Folch, she also said that she had never given her a key to the home.
Damages are estimated to be $25,000.
