A mysterious trio was forced to flee into the night Thursday after they were caught engaging in activity of a “sexual nature” aboard one of Toronto’s busiest streetcars.
Just after 5 p.m., a rider aboard a westbound 504 King streetcar alerted the driver that fellow riders in the rear of the vehicle was visibly engaged in erotic activity — most likely manual or **** sex, according to early reports. Police later told the CBC that were three people involved: Two men and a woman, all of them extremely intoxicated.
According to an alert on an official TTC Twitter feed, a “security incident” forced the car to stop at King St. and University Ave. and await a supervisor. By then, however, the couple had disappeared.
“Stuck in streetcar at King and York for 20 minutes the driver announces reason for delay. ‘Sexual activity,’” wrote Twitter user Robin Lobb in a 5:39 p.m. post.
Mr. Lobb added that the driver announced the news with a “sombre face.”
The King streetcar is the busiest TTC surface route, carrying upwards of 60,000 riders per day. At peak hours, the cars are full to capacity, forcing passengers into uncomfortably intimate proximity with one another. The incident also occurred while external temperatures hovered at negative four degrees Celsius.
