Man that dress is quite a conversation piece isn't it?

Me I was married in an outdoor ceremony on a blistering hot late June day.

We kept it small and only had about 50 or so family members and friends.

I still recall my best man whispering in my ear shortly before everything started that we still had time to get the hell out of there, lol.

Should have heeded that advice I guess as things went south for us about 2 years after the blessed event.

at my wedding i was miserable going thru the proceedings at the alter, then my alarm clock went off and i was so happy it was only a dream.

As a guest at several weddings in recent years, I have noticed an irritating trend by wait staff that I believe drives up the cost of the open bar.

Set your nearly full glass of wine on the table after a sip or two and get up to dance. When you come back from the dance floor, the super efficient waiters have "cleaned up" your table for you, taking away half a dozen half full glasses of wine, probably nearly a bottle's worth, so everybody goes to the bar to get another glass of wine.

Hey, it's a free bar ... why worry if the waiter swiped your nearly full glass of wine or beer, right?

Wrong.

Unless their goal is to drive up the number of bottles opened to charge the bridal couple (at double or triple the LCBO prices).

all the more reason dancing should be reserved for bringing a good crop or to bring about rain.

I worked my way through University as a DJ (back in the day when it meant you knew a lot and didn't have a shitload of MP3s on your little Macbook Air with autoDJ software). Havign done literally hundreds of weddings, I wish dancing was banned for anyone who failed the test!

Damn

how many Victrolas did you have to bring for that?

The thing I remember most is being so sure I was doing the right thing. That's the thought that makes me feel sad, and kind of stupid. I wish I at least had the consolation of knowing my gut told me I was making a mistake at the time.

Today would have been my anniversary. sigh.

Happy anniversary anyway. I had the same feeling when I got married...we were together six weeks. The divorce took seven years. Sigh...

I said I never would married.....

The marriage almost never happened....He did not want any big
wedding....we did it at the Court House..... The whole wedding cost
around $50 at that time........I do not see the point of the whole
Show and spending $15,000 to $1 million plus....

You followed your heart. There's a quote I use to get through times like these and feeling regret.

Don't have regrets, at the time it was exactly what you wanted.

Although things didn't work out there are many positive things you can take from it. Today must be very difficult, I hope you get through it as painlessly as possible.

I say with absolute confidence that there is only one situation in which I would even consider marrying again, and that would be the oh-so-rare 95-15-105-0 situation. 95yo, 15mil in the bank, fever of 105, 0 kids. :666:

I agree with you Bliss about big weddings. People lose focus and think the wedding is the important part, when what really matters is what comes after.

Thanks, Bridgette, that's sweet. No worries, it's a very-temporary bout of melancholy.

Is it too early for tequila?
