What To Do Sunday

Well, I'm taking Sunday off and heading into downtown...But being an out of towner, I don't know many POI or events of interest. I know a couple of comic shops, the Eatons Centre and the World's Biggest Book Store.

I'll most likely park in the Yonge/Dundas lot and walk from there.

So I'm looking for suggestion on places or events to take in...And a certain apartment with a red couch isn't out of the question. Just highly unlikely. (Besides most of the ladies i'dlile to visit don't work Sundays)

Bookstores work for me (though I have a feeling I'd pick up the Complete Idiots Guide to Amazing sex...Like I'd actually use it). But decent men's wear shops might also be good.

So suggestions? Even the ladies should feel free to pitch in.

I'm kind of meh at a few of them. Hitting some of the beaches might be nice. Heck, it's been a long time since I've been out on a beach. But I don't know how long I could tolerate just lazing around like that. Plus being as pale as I am, I'd burn in no time. Besides, no one would want to see me in my swimming attire....Much less if I wandered over to Hanlan's Point and partook. :beurk:

Speaking of bookstores, have you been to Nicholas Hoare? It's a beautiful shoppe on front street (Union Station) with books stacked on wooden shelves to the ceiling - it smells like old books too.

I LOVE THAT STORE!!!

Have you been to Toronto Island? It's beautiful, calm, has beaches, historic houses and quiet little lanes to wander down; I think it might suit you.

Furthermore, its accessed by Union Station, which makes it walking distance to the harbourfront area - where there are lots of cultural arts events, galleries, and tall ships to see each weekend.

If you choose toronto island may I suggest bringing a picnic basket? (Stop at St Lawerence Market first). Bring O with you, he might know where he's going.

This is exactly what I used to do on a Saturday afternoon (not open Sundays). Hop on my bicycle with the (now ex) GF and we'd ride to the the volleyball courts in the east end of the beaches and have our picnic there, then back out to the Leslie spit and back downtown...great fun and workout.

I'll go to the island with you Dave. I can be at loose ends on the weekends these days and i got to keep Wendel entertained.

Do it Dave...O is a great guy, maybe Wendel will stick his nose up your butt too, just for the hell of it

I'm getting half a mind to come in Saturday evening, stay overnight, and catch some night life. Two problems: No idea where to find said night life, and I was never one to indulge in it anyway.

I would definitely take Olayda's beach stroll invitation. Peach ogling as you walk the beach or board walk is a great pass time and please take pics and send them my way.

Great pass time I agree!

Depending on the weather, Sundays are great for a canoe trip with the family, or if the kids all have plans (teenagers... :roll, a peddle and paddle! That's a kayak trip down stream, combined with a bike ride up the river!

Sounds like a very tempting offer, Olayda. The introvert in me though wishes to do it's own thing, and I hate to impose.

I do know I'm going to hit up the WBB, the Hairy Tarantula and 1000000Comix...And I can get lost in book stores for hours. Plus I think I'd like to go to the AGO...I've never been to an art gallery before. Then maybe I'll wander down to the islands. Yes, I have one hell of a walking range.

Then there's the matter of Toronto Passions.... Hmmmm :666:

Check out Steve's Music on Queen W, a lot of local talent hang there on Sundays to play the demo equipment and talk. They also don't impose time limits on the instruments on Sundays.
