What's a good place to tour around nearby?

Sorry for the totally off-topic question. Tomorrow, the wife and I both have a day off (if I had it alone, then I'd definitely be at the Playmate :biggrin2, and I'm wondering what's a good place to go visit for a day? I was initially thinking Mont Tremblant, but it's a little too far, and neither of us skis. I know there's other things to do in Tremblant besides skiing, as we've been there in the summer. What's a good place to see, let's say within an hour of here?

Not knowing what things you both like and enjoy, or if you're just looking for a drive somewhere, or a little adventure here's some ideas:

This is very informative and not something many get a chance to do. Details on site. You can go to Wakefield via the new 4 lane extension and go into the village, and then cross the bridge and go toward Edelweiss, but keep going until you hit the other highway and head north.

2. Go for lunch at Mama Terrisa's in Chelsea, or some other cafe there.

3. Visit the Moulin Wakefield Mill as the waterfall is beautiful there, and inside you could have a drink and food

4. This might be a little far, although you did consider Mt Tremblant. Definitely a unique experience if you like dogs...normally we don't like dogs, but this is the ok kind!!

If you are looking for something outdoorsy and you like snowshoeing, you can park at P15, which is just off the 5 and past the covered bridge and snowshoe up to the Healy hut. There will be a nice fire there and you can warm up before you hike back. Not too much vertical (if the the snowfall has been light you can do it without snowshoes).

Ditto on the showshoe trail... except you don't need snowshoes, the snow is already packed with people walking on it. Especially this year since we had rain recently and not much snow after that. It's a good walk to Healy - about 45-60 minutes, bring a lunch - I like to prepare some grilled cheese sandwiches with ham. Wrap it in foil and you can simply place it on top the wood stove... mmmm.

He hasn't submitted his DOB report to us yet, as his SO enticed him to stay overnight in Wakefield for a romantic evening! I sure he won't admit it, but we know that's what happened...

No, actually we were getting ready to head out into the adventure, but we both got up, took our showers and decided we were still sleepy, and went back to sleep to sleep in. By the time, we awoke again, it was too late to go anywhere (the Sun goes down too quickly these days). I thought it was a good idea too, as how often do you get a chance to take a nap until afternoon?

But the little trip has been tabled until some other day, maybe in the summer when the Sun doesn't go down so quickly.
