AP just suspended for the rest of the NFL season

Dwight Howard is under criminal investigation for child abuse ... law enforcement sources tell TMZ.

We've learned the Cobb County PD in Georgia now has an active criminal investigation into allegations he beat his 6-year-old son Braylon with a belt buckle.

TMZ Sports broke the story ... the Dept. of Children and Families in Florida (DCF) determined there wasn't enough evidence of child abuse to go forward, but it turns out the incident occurred in Georgia. Howard admits he hit his kid with a belt, but says he didn't know it was wrong because he was hit as a kid.

Law enforcement tells us ... Georgia cops asked Florida for the file, but the DCF dragged its feet and did not cooperate. So it turned into a cold case until Monday, after Cobb County detectives saw the TMZ Sports story summarizing a doctor's findings that Howard committed child abuse.

A Georgia law enforcement source tells TMZ ... "People who were not so forthcoming before today [Monday] have been." The source adds detectives did several one-on-one interviews Monday and say the case "has now been raised to top of the list."

Howard's attorney tells TMZ ... Howard's baby mama Royce Reed is "shopping her baseless allegations" to Georgia authorities even though Florida's Dept. of Children and Families found her claims had "no merit."

For the record ... DCF found the allegations credible, but concluded they did not meet the standard of proof required for formal action.

The attorney says he's confident Georgia will reach the same conclusion because "The truth is on our side."

I don't know who AP is - I read that as "Associated Press". That's Dwight Howard of the NBA's Houston Rockets in the .gif, though. I don't follow football closely enough to know if there is also a Dwight Howard that plays in the NFL, but I do know that Dwight Howard the basketball player is from Georgia. He was a #1 Overall selection in the NBA draft around ten years ago, out of High School, and Hoops is my winter sport.

I'm talking about an advertising slogan, two guys in a photo, pounding the crap out of each other in a Hockey fight, but simultaneously promoting Hockey as 'wholesome', because no women, children, or cute furry animals are getting hurt in the process. It's called irony.

I don't think there is any more of this going on than there used to be. It's just the new cause célèbre. Certain groups are just pissed off because they can't force professional team sport owners to stop using Indian nick names, even though most Indians don't mind. It's only the vocal ones, and the people who take offense on their behalf, without asking them first.

I think it's all an involved ploy to have black men removed from the protected groups list, so they can become 'the other white meat', when it comes to assessing blame for all of the ills in society.

Blackhawks' Kane dropped from NHL 16 video game cover amid rape investigation




EA Sports is dropping Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane from promoting its NHL 16 video game because he is under police investigation.
The popular video game company announced its decision on its Twitter account Wednesday.
EA Sports says Kane will no longer be a spokesman for NHL 16, nor appear on the game's cover as previously planned.
Kane was to appear on the cover alongside Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews.
Kane's lawyer, Paul Cambria, and agent, Pat Brisson, did not return messages seeking comment.
EA Sports' decision comes less than a week after Hamburg police announced Kane is under investigation for something that may have happened at Kane's homeoutside Buffalo on Aug. 2.
