Who pays on a date? Men or women?

Last chick I dated was under the impression that she deserved to be courted endlessly for months with fancy dinners and evenings out. I put a stop to it right quickly after she gave me "the talk" when she thought things were starting to get serious. She had the audacity to ask me "if I had a problem with the fact that she didn't want to work".

Dumped her right then and there. I see her posting on Facebook now and then and it's always bitching about being single and not being able to find a good guy.

Well, I would say everything is situational but my relationships have usually been a pay-for-your-own meals kind of thing. I'll pay on a date every so often but if the gal expects it from me.. well it just won't sit in my head right.

I think it should be the person doing the inviting. If I ask you to dinner I pay, if you ask me, you pay, but I didn't watch the video.....

If it's just a simple dinner out, and it's the first date, I don't have a problem paying because it gives me a chance to observe natural behaviours with regards to money and expectations. Usually, the women worth asking out again are those that will look for opportunities to pay for something during that date, like movie tickets or drinks etc. If no opportunity presents itself, and if they had a good time, they'll usually say something like "next time my treat". It's worth the price of dinner to hear those words.
