Apologies to be cruel but it serves him right for thinking she can handle the pressure. Dammit she is only 9.

Why are we teaching children how to use weapons like this? :unknw:

The instructor erred big time. He should have been standing behind her not next to her. No charges on the girl but if she shot another person God save her soul.

Cops purposely put this video on to warn all what not to do. If I were the 9 year old's parent I would keep her away from guns till she reaches 18. Imagine the trauma she is going through now.

I'm not even in gun crew, and I could see where they could have her hold the gun inside a small Plexiglas tube opening so it couldn't go suddenly up or sideways like that. Maybe even have a short wire that would run from the gun grips to a platform for stability.

Children who learn about firearms at an early age are statistically less prone to having an accident with one. Check the stats fro yourself.

Children throughout history used to hunt right along side their fathers by age 6-7 and were defending themselves and family at a very young age.
Just because either the instructor or the kid weren't paying attention or the kid mischievously wanted to see what the firearm would do, doesn't change this fact.

If they would have shot something and watched what happened to it prior to handing the kids the gun this would not have happened.

My brother's son has been shooting since he was 8, BB guns then Bow and Arrow, now 22LR. Soon he will be holding my Beretta 9mm and 7mm Magnum learning to survive and defend himself if needed.

Also, it has been proven that hunters from the deep south who have lived in the wilderness and used firearms from a young age make the best snipers and have a high rate of survival in combat.

Small hand guns, rifles, bows and arrows - I can accept that. But there is no reason for a child to be taught how to use an Uzi imo.

I brought this up at a meeting this morning with a bunch of folks who flew up from Texas. Their response? The instructor was doing a good thing teaching the kid to shoot. It's his own fault for not telling her about the recoil.

I won't tell anyone what to do, but there's no way in hell I'd put my nine-year-old in a situation where she's firing guns or other people are firing guns.

Lets say he DID tell her about the recoil. What on earth does a 9 year old know about recoil and how strong it can be. This was a needless accident. An instructor is dead and a child has been scarred for life all because someone wanted to "teach" someone about using an AUTOMATIC WEAPON.

OH PLEASE!

This had nothing to do with a lesson. This was a thrill for the parents and they hoped it would be the same for the child.

Very sad, for the girl and the instructor. But, why in the blue fuck would you A: let a 9 year old shoot a fully automatic weapon? and B: put more than a couple rounds in the mag? and C: let a experienced shooter start out with a 9 mill? especially a child?

It's sad the guy died, but he was kind of a dumb ass. The saddest part though is the fact that the liberal anti gun crazies will turn this into some sort of "save the children from the horrors of guns!!!!" while they don't give a flying fuck about children or safety. They just want control with no opposition. hell, you can tell they don't care about kids from the fact that they want abortions to stay legal and be payed for by the taxpayers. I despise the government.

no one has the need for an automatic weapon for home use.

Giving a child a weapon of that skill level with a full mag is not only stupid but also a deadly combination. As proved in this case.

If for some reason you have a brain malfunction and want to teach a child how to use a gun like this............You hand it to the child with no mag and no round chambered. You then aim it down range and chamber one round. Stand behind the child and give the order to fire.

The round fires and no mag insures that is now a safe weapon.

This tragic incident comes all too soon following one that happened a few years ago. An eight year old boy was fatally shot while unable to control the recoil while firing a Uzi on full auto in the presence of a gun instructor and his father at a gun show.
