I was taught that 'the policeman is your friend' when growing up, and in the very few instances when I've interacted with law enforcement during the course of my life, have always been treated well by them.

A Canadian border guard made me cry once when I was driving back home though. :Crying/:

Just like any other profession you get the good and bad apple. The problem is when it is a bad apple cop, included in are batons, pepper spray and a gun.
