Why Do Some People Hate Marijuana So Much?

No one dies from marijuana, unlike so many other drugs, including alcohol and nicotine. People are mellow and get the munchies when they smoke, they do not get violent or disruptive. Medical marijuana helps people with debilitating illnesses.

It's a natural plant and one of the only ones on Earth that grows practically everywhere, in almost any climate. For those religious people out there: why did GOD populate his creation with something harmful? He didn't, he gave us marijuana which HELPS people in so many ways.

Marijuana is a value-changing drug. Perhaps this is why so many hate it? It makes people THINK, and turns them inward so they can examine their values, beliefs and actions. Once someone goes down this path they find it very hard to buy the party line of constant, neverending war. Is this the reason so many people hate marijuana?

Seriously, the anti-weed vitriol seems totally whacky, as if the opponents were the ones stoned. LOL But I would like to hear some reasoned arguments as to why people HATE marijuana so much.

I've never tried marijuana, nor do I have a desire to. I don't like the idea of sucking any kind of smoke into my lungs, plus I don't really care for the smell. You can have my share.

It's stinky, for one. - Ya, when I smoked I kinda liked the skunk smell, but now - stinky.

Also, my biggest pet peeve with weed is that when you're around a bunch of people that are smoking and you aren't, they get noticeably dumber while remain as you were. Conversation goes to shit, you apparently HAVE to order pizza (but don't know what the fuck toppings you want and god help the poor person taking the call), end up watching stupid shit on tv and people start getting 'faded' and sitting there silently.

It's a harmless escape, the little rituals and secretive nature make it more interesting than alcohol. The only negative is that it makes me a criminal associating with other criminals - just like HUBGFE.

:good:

That would constitute a very small percentage of the illegal grow ops going right now. You are making too broad of a generalization on this subject.

I've heard it makes your hair fall out. Who the fuck wants to be a bald-ass fuzz-bucketed loser for no good reason!? Chicks don't love that, that's for damn sure. I love my long thick hair too much to risk it.....

I watched an old documentary about the history of marijuana in the USA, and it was one anal DEA dude who kicked up a huge stink against legalizing it. During Regan's and Clinton's presidency, it came close to being legalized.

This is the REAL reason Costello:

Stoned rabbits pose danger to Utah says DEA
Bud bunny: DEA agent warns Utah lawmakers about fearless pothead rabbits, citing science

Constantly stoned rabbits could be a serious consequence for Utah if the use of medical marijuana is legalized in the state, a U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agent warned. Matt Fairbanks told a Utah Senate panel that the creatures may develop a taste for the plant if it is grown on a mass scale, reports the Washington Post.

The bunnies and other animals would lose their fear of humans and some of their natural instincts, the DEA agent added. "I deal in facts. I deal in science," the special agent, who's a member of the state's "marijuana eradication team," told the panel.

He claimed that he'd seen "entire mountainsides subjected to pesticides, harmful chemicals, deforestation and erosion" due to large-scale illegal weed cultivation. And at some of those prohibited sites, he claimed that rabbits had "cultivated a taste for the marijuana. One of them refused to leave us, and we took all the marijuana around him, but his natural instincts to run were somehow gone," he added.

Fairbanks, however, did not cite how marijuana cash crops would be any more destructive than corn and wheat, which have similar consequences in the area, reports The Guardian. Nor did he present scientifically proven evidence, despite his claims that "I come to represent the actual science."

He was ultimately unsuccessful in his bid to ban bud from being legally grown in the state for people who have severe medical conditions. Jeremy Roberts, president of Medical Cannabis Payment Solutions, dubbed Fairbanks' speech as "a little bit of hyperbole," seeing as the bill requires the drug to be grown indoors.

The panel approved the bill, which will still prohibit marijuana smoking, and sent it to the full state Senate, where it will be debated this week, reports ABC News.
