Why do women insist you must be at least 6' tall to get a respond on dating sites?.

Isn't this prejudiced and in poor taste?. Does that make them shallow and aren't they cutting themselves limiting their own pool and in many cases over valuing themselves and the men?.

I am sure if I ask "for" women under 120 pounds and with big boobs my inbox would be full with angry women calling me names.

This is similar to "why do women hate black men" thread. Anyone is entitled to like what they like, height to many is very attractive and many women find tall, which most consider for men to be 6ft and up, attractive and masculine, but there are also lots who find all heights attractive. Don't be offended by what some don't like, seek out those who have likes that aren't so specific in physical traits, perhaps or who include likes which define you.
I'm tall, nearly 5ft9....nearly:wink2: I come from very tall people, women and men, all 5'11 and up, and they're getting taller with each new generation it seems. Growing up I was always teased for being the shorty, so a persons height was a significant feature for me. Yet, I've met shorter men who are super sexy, confident and very masculine. So it's not so important anymore, although, just as blue eyes might be a must for some, height is for others. Personally, I think concentrating on the attractiveness and appearance of ones character would be a better idea:)

Everyone has their wish list. But honestly if you read a profile and think you would be a good match and height is the only issue. Contact them anyways and see what happens. But don't come across as weak by mentioning the height issue and apologizing. Worst that happens is she says no.

After all the likely hood of her being 5'8" and 100 pounds are even slimmer than she says she is.

NO!!!! Why would you contact someone who specifies they like a type and you aren't that type. Why waste your time and hers, seek out those who like your height and get over the fact that some like taller. I mean, when I need a new car I'm not going to the Jaguar dealership, because I can't afford one. We all have to be realistic.

But I said contact them if you think you are a good match and height is the ONLY problem. That's different from contacting every woman looking for a tall guy.

There’s just something appealing about tall men. Napoleon aside, tall men are more likely to win the popular contest in presidential votes and to be re-elected once in office (Stulp, 2013). Their greater leadership potential may have something to do with the fact that tall men have higher self-esteem (whether or not deserved), are happier, and less likely to feel jealous toward other men. When it comes to romantic partners, men and women tend to sort themselves out so that they form pairs of similar height. However, among married couples, women are more likely to be shorter than their husbands, if only by a few inches.
In an intriguing 2013 study, Dutch psychologists Gert Stulp, Abraham Buunk, and Thomas Pollet followed up on some of their earlier work on male height to find out more about what leads women to prefer those lanky guys. They were also curious to learn how and why people are satisfied with their own height.

I once was trying my best with a girl in a bar in downtown Ottawa in the Market area.

She said that while she liked me I was to short for her.

I'm 6'1........

I've never had much luck on dating sites. I'm almost 5'4"
Ok, luck has nothing to do with it. Never got lucky through a dating site. :(
I met my ex-wife on ICQ. Started out as just someone to chat with, then flirt, then Cyber. We only got to meet f2f when I was sent on a business trip, close to her home town.
like I said, now EX-wife. I bought her a house. :(

Maybe some of these women are tall? I know lots of women prefer men who are taller than them so the they don't tower over them in heels. I always laugh when a MPA walks into the room and immediately kicks off her shoes so that she doesn't tower over me.

Personally, I like shorter girls due to my being somewhat vertically challenged. There were exceptions tho. For example, a tall women makes for a VERY nice 69 cause I don't have to lift my head up much, and she can still DT.

I'm 6', 200+ lbs. I walk in like I own the place. I get looks. I give them the "I'll eat your face if you look at me like that again". I've been told I'm menacing looking but also have a nice smile and "kind eyes", how that mixes, who knows. I make light of my short friends, because they're short. I speak with confidence. I've never had any luck in making the first move in civvie relationships. All of my civvie relationships have come from the woman approaching me. I'm a perfect fit for CK slim fit suits off the rack with no alterations except for pant length. Am I perfect? Nope, but I'm happy for what I have to work with.

Maybe she just uses that as an easy way to turn you down. Nothing you can do or say will change the "shortcoming" giving her the perfect out.

I agree with Erectile that perhaps some of the women are taller than usual but the OP made it sound like it was a very common request. I've given up on online dating so I can't say what it is like these days. At this stage happy to pick a hot woman to play with for an hour and call it a night ;)

She had a good 2 to 3 inches on me. And was a volleyball player at Ottawa U if I recall correctly.

Despite my height disadvantage I was still up for the challenge. Her not so much...lol.

After all we are all the same height lying down right?

Awww a female volleyball player :good::good: From my experience, I have seen a fair share of beautiful serious female volleyball players. :biggrin2:

See that's where having depression and low self esteem really pay off. Get to the part on a dating site: "Write a bit about yourself" "Ummmm...ahhhh...shit" <quit>

Yeah, I know how are you supposed to catch any fish if you don't cast your bait out? Well, I'm the one that will get thrown back, do why bother.

This story bugs me. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/...w-Tinder-date-open-letter-told-FAT-fancy.html

She's a feminist hero because someone dumped her for being fat. Women dump men for being short all the time, the only difference is if I go around complaining I can't get a date because of my height the response would be "it's probably not your height - it's more likely you personality" where if a woman complains she can get a date because she's too fat, the response is "men are such shallow pigs, what's wrong with them"

The double standard is really starting to bug me.

^ I'm perplexed, I didn't find his letter grotesque, saccharine, sadistic, or rude. Unnecessary perhaps, but not as she described it. He didn't have to tell her what he didn't find attractive, he could have just said he didn't think they were a good match, but he did say he wasn't going to bullshit her either. I think this could be looked at in a few different ways. Regardless, if someone doesn't like something about you, fugget about it:) move on and find someone who will like you. Dislike of a person, or a particular feature on that person, doesn't mean that someone or something isn't worthy or beautiful:)
