I noticed on one line of this poem the word *brings* was omitted before "out the compassion". I had copied another of this poem on my webpage and it has that in it. My apologies for using this copy. But it gets the point across:)

I'm just sickened about Montreal's breed ban, it's sad that they're are so many clueless people.

That is news to me. Thank you for posting it Cristycurves.

There is no doubt that dogs are man's best friends. However as a best friend man leaves a lot to be desired. There are endless tales of abuse and neglect. Every summer I have employees check my parking lot for the cars with the windows open just a crack. Often these vehicles contain a dog suffering in the incredible heat inside. At least once a week I have to confront a customer and inform him or hervof the error of their ways. I have even had to call the police to intervene. I have an SPCA sign in my front window warning of the dangers of a hot vehicle but some folks just do not get it. My stance may cost me some business but I believe overall has a positive effect as most people apreciate the effort and stand we take.
To be a pet owner involves a lot of responsibilty. You are responsible for the health and well being of a living being. There is a time and financial committment as well as an emotional committment. Pet ownership should not be taken on on a whim.
Perhaps the owners should be licenced? A test, background check perhaps?
There are a lot of humans that should be neutered or spayed ahead of their pets.

@Beached, amen to that. Great post, but sad that we have to speak about this summer after summer!
