think Walk, Walk, Walk and in the winter time too at a minimun of three times a day on top of the doggie day care. It is part of his/her training. A lot of time is spent with my dog lavishign attention on him and playing with him also in addition to the walking. But the love comes back in spades. Find out the achilles heel of health is in the breed you choose: for instance do they get displaced hips at 8 years of age? Mine is prone to ginvivitus and needs a thorough cleaning every other year whihch runs a little over $500. Plus there can be tooth problems and extractions which run in the hundreds.

I have pet insurance for my three animals because if somethng serious goes wrong and they have to be taken to emerg the diagnostics run at $2000 to begin with, so I think it is worth it although it doesn't cover teeth anymore. i just rest in peace having it. The costs for dogs is a little more than cats and is determined by breed.

I have heard great things about rescue dogs as well and they make fine pets. It is a personal choice. If you are thinking of getting such a big dog, they wull need a lot of exercise and throwing a frisbee and teaching it to catcht it would be a worhtwhile activity. i hope this helps. PM me if you would like more info.

This is what you get for leaving me in the car too long.
