Why do some many Vegetarians insist I stop killing Animals

When they support and in fact demand

the right to kill this?

And in some parts of Canada, Usa, Switzerland, etc, etc. To many an animal is an animal. To many a being is a being. I think the op's point is a reasonable point. No matter the animal, human or other species, we all understand and feel pain, we all can sense danger and we all enjoy feeling good, and want to live so.... But to some there is a hierarchy to life, so it is pointless to query some people, they just won't get it.....I've many clients that are medical professionals and some engineers, some scientists, it is usually this group who are the most hard headed on the subject, lol.
I'll never understand those who get angry towards those who want no being to suffer, or to be abused, but humans are humans, so.........
Prick are you dumb? Your comment is not a very welcoming statement to make towards someone who doesn't post very often....try to be nice and understanding, for a change:) Maybe read the comments without a bottle in hand:wink2:

@Papa- truly, I don't think anyone cares what you put in your body, it is yours, you can fill it with all the animal products you desire, it is you who'll be affected negatively or positively, in the end:) So in saying that, your body, with it, do as you please, With my body, I'll too, do with it as I please, and that goes with what grows in side of it:) I know it's hard for a man to grasp this......
sorry to delve into a subject that isn't related to the op's post but some keys points regarding abortion, one , why are so many right to lifers, okay with the death penalty?

other points quote-Nearly all abortions take place in the first trimester, when a fetus is attached by the placenta and umbilical cord to the mother. As such, its health is dependent on her health, and cannot be regarded as a separate entity as it cannot exist outside her womb.

The concept of personhood is different from the concept of human life. Human life occurs at conception, but fertilized eggs used for in vitro fertilization are also human lives and those not implanted are routinely thrown away. Is this murder, and if not, then how is abortion murder?

Adoption is not an alternative to abortion, because it remains the woman's choice whether or not to give her child up for adoption. Statistics show that very few women who give birth choose to give up their babies - less than 3% of white unmarried women and less than 2% of black unmarried women.

The idea that some animals are food and others are not is really a left over from Jewish dietary laws... where both pig and dog would be considered unclean (because they scavenge, and eat animals -- pigs are omnivores) and therefore not food. Jewish dietary laws are very restrictive, but not the most restrictive in the world. Christians abandoned many of the Jewish rules, but still have a remarkably limited range of mammals in our diet. The rules of what is good to eat and what is not varies tremendously around the world with China basically accepting pretty much non-human animal as potential food to the other extreme in parts of India where Jainist's believe that any plant with senses is not to be eaten (e.g., root vegetables such as onions are not eaten, but seeds are ok). To the credit of the Chinese, they eat a lot more invertebrates then we do in the west, which are more environmentally sustainable.

What I found particularly ironic about the original post is that the kid in the picture appears to be Chinese... that is he is from a country that doesn't have strict dietary rules and pretty much anything that can be eaten, will be eaten.

You make a big assumption about political views...
but the truth is politics is filled with hypocrisy.

For example, there are Republicans in the US believe that women should be forced to go through with any pregnancy (the so called right to life), even a pregnancy from a rape, but the same morons who claim the right to life, vote against anything that would help support these mothers actually have those unwanted babies such as good universal health care (including wanting to defund planned parenthood), adequate funding of education, as well food stamps and other programs designed to help poor people feed themselves...
They don't believe in a right to life they believe in the life long punishment of the mothers and their children for her having sex.

Did you know that planned parenthood is not a governmental agency?
Did you know that most conservative Americans are not single issue voters?
Did you know that Adoptions do exist and Rather than Children being resented their chance of being loved increase greatly.

Did you know that when you work to get something you tend to respect what you have?

And did you know that in Israel they are working out KOSHER Pigs?

The Republican party has done everything it can to make life impossible for the poor in the US (so they turn to crime)...
So I repeat they are not a "right to life" party they are hypocrites.
Politics is filled with hypocrites.
If they really want to reduce abortion, then they should eliminate the stigma of having a baby, and fully fund the mothers to support the kids... anything short of that is hypocrisy.

This is the only positive I can understand that vegans and vegetarians do not have to argue about.

The same can be said about the democrat party. They've been in power in most poor areas for decades....what have they done to lift people out of poverty? Not a damned thing.

So cut back on the one side are hypocrites because the same thing is true of both sides.

I never said only one side are hypocrites... In fact I said there is a lot of hypocrisy in politics.

but the republicans are hypocrites regarding the so called "right to life".

ps. having a democrat president doesn't put them in charge as the reps controlled the house and senate for most of his term and fought him at every turn

They can always use their fists.

Now....the OP was about consuming different animals as food. Let's talk about that......

I think it's just about traditions. Some may be based on lore passed down from generation to generation before the first religions were ever organized. Perhaps where two types of animals were used for food, one was found to be more useful as a hunter, protector and companion while the other was found to be more useful as a food supply. It may also have to do with experiences in the past....perhaps people got sick from eating one and not the other. Hell, humans had to figure out which berries were safe to eat......the same thing goes for all other possible food sources. Who knows what happened where one group of people decided that Animal 1 was fine to eat but Animal 2 was sacred and shouldn't be touched.

The one thing I do know, one person really shouldn't have the right to tell another what they can or cannot eat. Hell, if people want to will their bodies to a restaurant....then I wouldn't care if people wanted to eat human flesh. I'm not saying I would do it or support it.....but if I'm going to be consistent, when I say that people should be able to do as they wish as long as everyone involved is willing and of age, then cannibalism should be included as long as the flesh comes from someone who gave it willingly. Hell, they don't even have to die.....they could sell an arm or a leg that they don't want or need.

(*Apotemnophilia patients came to mind) :)

Why only willingly....animals don't get to choose, so why should humans. If you are going to change rules, make them equal to all beings. Make hunting humans legal, too, lol, Soon I'm sure some "types" will be thought of as being "tastier" and hunted more. Therefore either naturally strengthening, or weakening the gene pools. :)
Back to reality.....If you read about religion, unbiased reports about religion, that is.You'll discover, it's inception was developed to justify our treatment of other beings, ie: eating them and having dominion over them. Without religion, there really wouldn't be any justification for how we treat them.

Human's eat animals but so do other animals to survive. I'm against sport hunting but I love my steak and fish and will keep eating what I enjoy but as for abortion, it's the ladies choice in my opinion.

For the most part, dogs were domesticated and raised to be pets, partners, members of family and pigs were raised to be food. Can the reverse be done? Sure, you can eat dogs and a well raised pig can be quite functional. For example, they have excellent smell, are very smart and trainable, and are only perceived to be dirty because of the way they are raised in pens for minimum cost. It's all about perspective I guess. Don't like it? Go back in time and change things.

I'm not sure I'd view my comment as an argument, nor silly, at least no sillier than your comment about cannibalism:) My point about religion was that it was circumvented to justify how we treat animals...how we house/abuse/use/ and eat them. If something tells us that we're the superior being, which religion does, then what we do with or treat those inferior to us is in some minds, justifiable, because God says so.
To your point about wanting everyone to live as they choose, do as they choose and eat what they choose. That's a nice dream, a utopian dream...Which will never happen, unless you remove religion, laws, traditions and other things that dictate how we live. and what we eat And in some cases, regarding what we eat, for health reasons, our doctors too will dictate what we can or should eat. So your "utopian" way of life has never existed. And forget about me wanting animals to have the same rights as humans, it would be nice if all humans had the same rights, that would be a start. Yet we can't even get that right, lol. So my hopes for equality, or I prefer to say respect, towards others species, isn't even perceivable.
