So a contract is not a contract when there's money involved. Nice to know.

He was a sleaze bag by making her sign the prenum agreement 4 days before their wedding. That is not right, just being a smart ass.

This is fine if you buy her story. The thing is he made the money, he had a pre nup why should she be entitled to half. Sorry not in my world, she should get something but not half. I don't blame him for trying to protect himself.

I have a simple rule, if a partner is not at least in the same financial situation I'm in it's not getting serious, ever ever!!

Well, actually, that's correct. If there's no consideration, there is no legal contract.

In this case, the inducement (consideration) was judged to be fraudulent.

This guys must have been a real douche or she was lucky to get a sympathetic judge. I highly doubt this result would have happened in Canada.

Cioffi-Petrakis told Shine that she (with much help from her parents) shelled out nearly $475,000 in lawyers’ fees over the years, and that her husband has paid more than $600,000. “And we haven’t even gotten to the divorce,” she said.

The only party that wins in the long run is the lawyers.
