Will Islam Eventually be Banned in the West for Promoting Hatred and Violence?

Is this a possibility in anyone's mind? Even in western countries with strong democratic governments and well-defined charters of rights and freedoms, can the Islamic philosophies survive give the ever increasing pace and cadence of terrorism and violence originating from islamic fundamentalist extremism?

What do you think would happen if a major North American or European country suddenly banned the preaching of Islam outright, categorizing it as doing nothing more than promoting 'hatred', along with the practicing of the muslim religion?

Might sound crazy in 2017, but there is now a growing public sentiment with broad support, and an organized government movement gaining traction in this direction...

The dilemma Islam faces in the west is that its fundamental principles are contrary to democratic value systems and judiciary controls that have already been established and endorsed globally. Much of what is contained in the Qur'an can be categorized as nothing more than 'hate speech' based on existing legislation. How can the west be expected to continue to extend tolerance and understanding to a people who's value-system at its core preaches absolute, non-negotiable segregation and intolerance, and as such breeds contempt for, and violence against western values and those that hold them dear.

Wishful thinking but this can only happen after elections are done and they have 4 years to screw with anything they wish for.

This is a tough one. I admit I am torn.

Like Madman, I have met some amazing Muslims. I have actually not personally met a "bad one". I have met horrible Christians, and Jews. But not Muslims.


However, the islamic faith scares me. What the Qur'anteaches about women, and about non Muslims does scare me. I don't want to end up like Europe where every week is a terrorist attack.

I don't know what the answer is, but at some point you have to weigh the safety of the people over the religious choice people make for themselves. Since I personally believe that religion is a choice, a luxury even, I would have to say that if things get worse, the safety of society as a whole should trump the choice of religion. This is not just the Islamic faith either.

I would say this about every religion. I think we should not swear an oath on a bible either, but that is just me.
