Will you be changing your tipping policy when min wage increases?

Question is pretty simple. With min wage increasing, will you be changing your tipping habits. Servers will be paid less then regular workers.


Liquor servers would see an increase from $9.90 per hour to:

$10.10 per hour on October 1, 2017
$12.20 per hour on January 1, 2018
$13.05 per hour on January 1, 2019

So what if any will change in tipping? Will you to differently for liquor servers vrs other services like hair dressers?

However for what a Guinness costs in Canada at a bar I will be drinking water.

Don't waiters and servers make minimum wage PLUS tips? I never tip the recommended 20%. I think that's outrageous. Sorry, but I'd rather just eat and drink at home if it gets any crazier.

Nope, cost of living has gone up so much the increase in wages hardly covers it, I will continue to the same 10-20% I always have depending on service level.

I've heard too many people, many of whom live with their parents, brag about how much they were making in tips. The only time I've tipped 20% was to our favorite waitress who was great at her job and was a mom.

Labor cost is included on the food and alcohol they charge.

same here. A few times I was told that I gave too much. It is hard because I was raised and taught to give tips.
Now I am just wary of those "entitled" waiters....20% in my opinion now is excessive but again it really depends on the waiter.

I remember one time in Toronto, it was raining cats and dogs..
So I grabbed a cab for my Baby and me......The ride was 12 bucks I handed the driver 30 bucks and he was floored....We were dry so all was good.

Those are the kind of things that encourage me to tip generously.
