That should teach her.

A Colorado woman learned a painful lesson about the dangers of texting while driving.
Christina Jahnz says she was texting when she hit a pole that went through her car, piercing her thigh and buttocks.

“I was running late for a business meeting, so I did a voice text," she told. "I looked down to make sure it was all right. The next thing I knew, I was looking up, there was white powder from the air bags deployed."

She says guardrail pole went through the front of her truck, through her buttocks and into the back of her seat.

“I went into surgery and I lost count of the stitches after 40. They stitched me up inside too. I’m truly a miracle. They said if it gone just a little bit the other way I would have bled out,” Jahnz told the paper.

Ouch and lady remember the pain. Next time if you text and drive it would be a person you kill, jail for life.

It's because of the laws people keep their phone deep in their laps to not be seen. It's more dangerous than ever and the higher the penalties go the more people will go to dangerous levels to get away with it.

I started putting my phone and purse in the trunk. That way I can't reach it at all. It is sometimes too tempting to sneak a quick peak but the risk is simply not worth it. I have a hands free system for voice to text, to read texts and makes calls, so I never need my phone in my hand anyway. Quite often I have to take a couple of tries to voice a text, but if it is really that important, then I will pull over to get my phone out of the back and do what I have to do.

I use to be like this woman. I would check the screen to make sure the text was right and thankfully realized even that was not safe. So about 6 months ago I start tossing my purse in the trunk. I find I don't hit Tim's as much either because it is such a pain to go the trunk for $1.65.
