You are right with the acting and writing....

As they say " What Sells".....Too badit is violence but I feel its the our
animal instinct kicking in......A need to release the violence.....
Instead of it being real it is a fantasy...

even the transition to color diminished the industry some.

Hitchcock decided to do Psycho in blak and white because of the effect lighting would have on the film.

Film Noir was typically in B&W to use shadows more effectively.

Acting was better too

A good example is the 1962 version of Cape Fear -vs- the 1991 version.

Robert Mitchum personifies evil and Peck shows a man pushed the edge in the 62 film where as the 91 film was easily forgettable.

getting back to the original topic...... blissful..... share...... some....... more....... please :)

I am finding a lot of Movies that are remakes not that good.....I feel it because when you see the first
Movie and then the remake, you become more critical...... I guess you can say that about reading the books too......Also there are only a few Producers who are willing to explore different ways of filming...
and take a chance....it not just how much the movie can make.....

The Motion Picture Production Code was the set of industry moral censorship guidelines that governed the production of most United States motion pictures released by major studios from 1930 to 1968. It is also popularly known as the Hays Code, after Hollywood's chief censor of the time, Will H. Hays.
