Women who have abortions are at risk of severe mental health problems, according to a study.
The research found that those who undergo abortion face nearly double the risk of mental health difficulties compared with others and that one in ten of all mental health problems was a result of abortion.

The findings are certain to cause major controversy at a time when the pro- and anti-abortion lobbies are already in the midst of a vicious row playing out in Parliament.

I agree, making a conscious decision to end the possible child's life and having it taken away from you are two totally separate things. I am not saying that having a miscarriage doesn't come with it's own psychological issues, just different ones......

All that pro/anti abortion madness aside, it essentially raises one of those very tricky ethical questions - what's worse - abortion or give birth to unwanted child who will suffer consequences of irresponsibility of its parents if it gets born.

Before we start arguing about abortion, would you mind to offer an answer what's right in this hypothetical situation:
Let's say that you are stranded in an occupied village in a basement with several survivors, including a mother with a baby. If the enemy finds you, you will be all executed. Baby starts crying - that's what babies do, right? You have two choices: 1) let the baby cry, so the enemy will hear her and kill you all, or 2) or shut baby's mouth - that will certainly suffocate the baby. What would you do?

Those who want to really delve deeply into this ethical dilemma - may I suggest to study ethical theories: Mill's utilitarianism, Kant's formalism (duty ethics) Locke's rights ethics or Aristotle's virtue ethics. In many situations, these ethical theories will give completely different answer. For example, Mill's utilitarianism would justify abortion and Kant's formalism wouldn't.

Many people don't understand the concept of consequences for their actions and decisions. Abortion is tragic, but giving birth to unwanted child can be tragic too. Pick your poison.
