At least 3 shot at Houston-area community college

One person is reported in custody and police are searching for a second suspect

Lone Star Community college in the Houston area is on lockdown after at least two people were reportedly shot, KHOU-TV reports, quoting a deputy constable.
The Houston Chronicle says initial reports indicated that as many as three people may have been wounded. Their condition was not immediately clear.
KHOU, quoting one of its college reporters, said that one male was seen being taking out of the library on a stretcher.

KHOU reported that one person is in custody and that officers are searching for a second suspect at large.
KPRC reports that the suspect, described a black male, 18 to 20 years of age wearing a red shirt and a cap, fled an academic building heading toward a nearby housing development.
KPRC quoted a student, Amanda Vasquez, as saying she heard "5 or 6" shots while sitting in English class. She said students quickly scrambled, hiding under desks.
An alert on the college's website called on students, faculty and staff "take immediate shelter where you are.

The newspaper quotes a spokeswoman for the Lone Star College System as saying it's a "pretty chaotic scene."
The shooting took place around noon at the North Harris campus, one of the six serving the college system. It is located northwest of George Bush Houston Airport.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas -- At least three people, including a possible suspect, have been shot at Lone Star Community College in North Harris County, according to Precinct 4 deputy constables.

Witnesses say two males were arguing when one of them pulled a gun and opened fire. At least three people were wounded, including the man involved in the argument, according to witnesses.
Lone Star College student Brittany Mobley said she saw the whole thing happen.
"I saw two dudes basically get into an altercation and the dude that shot, he basically got angry and started shooting the other guy," said Mobley. "A lot of people heard a lot of shots."
Mobley said the suspect had the gun hidden in his clothes.
"Basically, I seen the dude that shot him and as soon as I heard the bullets flying and the gun being fired off, then everyone started running and it was a hint for me to start running as well," Mobley said.
A stringer for KVUE's sister station KHOU, Lloyd Overcash, saw one male being brought out of the library on a stretcher. He was reportedly handcuffed to the stretcher, according to witnesses.
At least one woman was being treated by EMS crews outside the library when KHOU's helicopter flew over. Other crews were entering the library with stretchers.

Just before 1 p.m. several people were evacuated from the library and other areas of campus.
Mark Zaragosa, an EMT student, got some hands-on experience when he spotted two victims before police arrived.

"I actually had just come out of EMT class and I noticed that there were two downed victims so I stopped to render assistance," Zaragosa said. "The two people that I took care of had just minor injuries. One gentleman had a gunshot to the knee and the [other] actually had an entry wound to the lower buttocks area."
The shooting happened around 12:30 p.m. at the campus in the 2700 block of W.W. Thorne Drive, near Bush Intercontinental Airport.
One student said she and other people dove under their desks when they heard the gunshots.
The campus is on lockdown, but students are being allowed to leave. No one is being allowed to enter the campus.
Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia tweeted "HCSO has an active shooter scene working at Lone Star College... Please avoid the area if possible," at 1:40 p.m.
Several Aldine ISD schools are also on lockdown while the search for the suspect continues. They are Nimitz High School, Nimitz 9th Grade Campus, Parker Intermediate and Dunn Clifford Elementary.

Take away the guns! Guns kill people because a majority of those who use guns are dumbasses.

It doesn't surprise me with the concealed weapon laws in Texas. People lose their temper and whip out their guns just like the old days in the west. Maybe it's time to allow gun duels in the US to cut down on innocent bystanders being shot.
