For some it's the principle, but I can't say as that's just to much money to even comprehend. No sports person is worth that imo, you have scientists, doctors and others doing wonderful things to help humanity, animals, the environment, it is those who should be making the big bucks not those who can hit, toss or dunk a ball, just my opinion.

I have heard rich, successful business people say that the way to make money is to produce a product/service that is easy to distribute to the masses. It is the distribution that makes a person rich, not the individual product.

Musicians became rich in the 80s because of distribution - MuchMusic, CDs, radio play etc. They are not as successful today because distribution is not as lucrative.

Doctors are superior to athletes, but there distribution is much harder - they can only see one patient at a time and only see a small number of patients per day. So, their income is constrained.

Athletes, on the other hand, have better distribution economics working in their favour. They can play a sport for 2 hours, have it broadcast to 50 million people (distribution favour) and makes millions as a result.

Have to admire the father for his belief. I am sure his son didnt want to be responsible for it nor cause a distraction. Nevertheless his father chose to resign.
I believed before signing the contract, he asked them if he could bring his son to the clubhouse and they agreed. Apparently one of them renegaded the deal and the player decided to resign. His choice.
