Watch as former couples take the test to answer awkward questions like 'Did you cheat?' and 'Are you still in love with me?'
Several former couples were forced to face up to the cold, hard truth about their exes as they were given lie detector tests in front of their old partners in a funny new video from Elite Daily.
The men and women each ask their ex-boyfriends and ex-girlfriends the tough questions, forcing them to reveal if they are still in love, whether they ever cheated, and how many people they've slept with since breaking up.
The hilarious video begins with members of each former couple sitting directly across from each other at a table where a large mass is covered by a sheet in the middle. As the sheet is removed, the lie detector machine underneath is revealed - much to the surprise of all of the volunteers. Some seem excited, others are amused, and one woman rolls her eyes - but not everyone is thrilled by the prospect of revealing some of their deepest secrets.
'This is gonna be hell,' says one nervous-looking red-headed woman.
Well, I made out with a girl. But making out with another girl is not cheating.
The interrogation begins with one woman reading from a set of index cards, asking her ex: 'Did you ever think we could get married?'
When he says yes, the surprised questioner says 'What!?' before adding: 'Aw, that's nice.'
Though the lie detector operator gives this former couple a thumbs up, he indicates that another man, who answers the same question with the word 'no', is lying.
'Did you ever snoop through my phone, email or social media?' asks one man. His ex-girlfriend is already nodding 'yes' before he can finish the question.
'All the time, whenever I got the chance to,' another woman answers honestly.
However, one girl is not so up front about her prying habits. 'No,' she says, giggling, as the lie detector indicates that this is not the truth. She then admits that she actually did it all the time.
The questions then move to more risqué topics.
One girl asks: 'Did you ever want to sleep with one of my friends?'
Though her ex doesn't hesitate to answer in the affirmative, telling her, 'Absolutely yes', another man tried avoid copping to the same thing.
'No,' he says, before the lie detector indicates that he wasn't truthful. But his ex isn't hurt - she just laughs, saying: 'I knew it!'
However, the mood between this particular couple doesn't stay light for long.
'Do you think we had bad sex?' he asks his ex-girlfriend.
He looks surprised - and by no means happy - when she awkwardly answers: 'Honestly, for me, yes.'
When another woman says that sex with her ex was bad as well, he touches his neck, saying: 'That's a choker, man.'
Did you ever cheat on me while you were dating?' the same girl then asks her former partner. He says no, but when the test shows that he is lying, he admits: 'Well, I made out with a girl. [But] making out with another girl is not cheating. What if I was on a job interview and a girl said, "Make out with me and I'll give you the job"?'
While his scenario for justified infidelity seems unlikely, it's quickly revealed that this man isn't entirely a cad. When asked if he is still in love with his ex, he admits that he is, prompting her to say: 'Aww.'
Another woman is less determined to let her ex down easy, though. When he admits that he is still in love with her, she laughs and smiles. But when the question is turned to her, she says she doesn't feel the same way
.
However, one lucky couple might still have a second shot and making things work.
'Want to get a bite to eat after this?' he asks her at the end of the clip.
At first, she says no - but the detector determines that she is lying. Excited, her ex pumps his fist.
'Wow, that's a big lie,' she observes, reading the machine. 'OK, yes.'
