So, driving along Kingston Road I see an awful lot of spas. Feeling kinky (back and shoulders, not the other kind, but then again...) I decided a nice Chinese massage and some "extras" might just help draw the year to a close. Next place I see, opposite the Go station, is Yan's Harmony Health Spa. Figuring I've had the best massages in my life from Asian women, in I go.
Clean place, with a pleasant lady at the reception desk. There's an RMT certificate on the wall. Could be a bad sign for the "extras" but could be good for the massage. Don't get asked if I want an RMT or not, just shown to a smallish room and shown the menu, which shows many variants of massage, spa treatments, mani and pedi, etc. $60 for a one-hour massage, done deal. The room is just big enough for the massage table and a sink, but that's OK. I'll be laying down most of it, I hope.
In walks a nice lady, pretty good English, who starts rubbing my shoulders and back. She immediately picks up on the stress, and we start chatting. She's very pleasant to talk to, reveals she's in her thirties with a teenage daughter, but otherwise all alone in Canada. Asks how I like my massage, I tell her as hard as she can, that I had massages every day when I lived in Asia, and to bring it on! And she does. Great technique, and very pleasant to chat with, even though she's only been in Canada a little while she's worked hard on her English. As we're chatting she mentions most of the "white guys" who come there only come for the "extras", while Chinese guys come for the massage. She asks if I'm a white guy (obviously in a round-about way asking about interest in extras). I tell her I'm good with anything, she gives a nice little pat, then resumes her massage, which is really very good. About half hour in, I'm relaxed, back and shoulders feeling really good, and starting to think about the extras when someone barges in the door, starts talking to the lady who was massaging me in a loud voice, then pushes her out the door (apparently a regular had appeared and wanted her NOW, but my Mandarin is pretty bad so she could have been sending her to KFC for chicken feet, for all I know). Anyway, the nice lady leaves, and the new one starts poking my back for a couple of minutes, not a word spoken, then she leaves and comes back with hot stones, which get arrayed down my spine.
I've done hot stones before, and they are actually quite pleasant, but I wanted a massage not a hot stone treatment. While the stones are in place, she gives a light rub to my arms and legs, using tons of oil, then makes a half-hearted attempt to wipte it off with a wet towel. Stones gone, I turn over. Still no more than 5 words spoken, but there's a towel goes over the pubes and that's the end of that. I get a bit of a chest massage (about as non-erotic as possible) followed by a "facial massage" which consisted of wiping my face and hair with her knuckles, then "time over" and out she goes. No discussion of anything beyond that.
Front desk, pay $60 for one hour and get out the door. The first lady I would visit again, if not just for the massage then the hint of extras (which may not actually have been on offer). I wouldn't visit again for the rest of the session.
Oh well, my back and shoulder feel better. But I left with the unfinished feeling we all know and dislike...
