Desire Evaline said:I have not yet mastered the concept of relaxation.
I have hobbies, & artistic pursuits. I've travelled for pleasure. I implement self care. I love all of the things tied to these, and yet I fail to master relaxation for a very simple reason.
I am unable to truly give myself permission to 'set my life down'. Those pressing things that crop up, the perception of responsibility blending with the reality of duties, and the things dependent on my actions leaves me perpetually fighting my instincts to 'produce' and 'accomplish' when I try to 'relax'.
I think it would make more sense to my mind if I was more highly strung, but I have come to the awareness that it stems from my need to take care of those around me. I need to see their smile, and know their day/week/month/year is better than it might have been. Even at great costs to myself... I've put myself second (if not last) for so many years that it has taken me more than the '21 days to create/break a habit'.
I'd fought so hard to 'be' what was 'expected' that I'd forgotten my own expectations and needs.
It was positively exhausting to be 'on' 24/7, and with a lot of effort I am now able to 'put a bookmark in it'... I also know 'this world' is as much about my relaxation, recreation and having my needs met through the human connections as it is for those I'd connected with.
It is remarkable what clarity comes when life shifts in the multitude of ebbs and flows that we experience.
