Obviously buying a car, house or a business not what I am talking about. I was out with a new friend, bought stuff at the LCBO, then smokes and junk food at a store. Then out to a local restaurant.

She is very observant and asked me why I never check the prices on what I pick up from store shelves or when I pay at the counter?. I said to her, does it really matter?.

A dollar here, a dollar there. It's all about convenience plus if you have to look at items before you buy it then you can't afford it.

She looked at me with funny eyes like saying 'You are weird'. So how many weird ones here do we have?.

I look at the price of everything I buy, and wait for sales on items I can do without today.

I also don't buy "smokes" and "junk food".

And yes, I'm doing just fine financially, and maybe that's because I do the above.

Sometimes...I've been lucky most of my life and haven't had to worry about the cost of things. But it certainly feels good to get a good deal when you can.

I always check prices everywhere and save what I can on a weekly basis. Then once or twice a year I blow it on women and gambling.
I do find it interesting on how MFG screw with us. Once small example:
A couple of large commercial bread companies have put products on 25%-50% price mark downs for a few weeks.
Now I always buy the same brands and same versions for years. So interesting they did lower the price temporarily but, at the same time made the weight/size smaller by 10-20%. So this seems like a little thing and most people won't notice. Next month they will jack the price back up and make better margins going forward. I understand it is an inflation thing and they don't want to piss off the customer right away and want to ease them into change. So instead they play these mind f*ck games. I noticed the same thing with other products like cereal and snack bars...

I noticed when the SO brought home stuff like chips or candy or chocolate bars from places like dollars stores or buck or two they were significantly smaller package size. So if you look at the cost per g in that store compared to say a major grocery store its really not a bargain.
Now look at a car. Ya I know they put plastic in them to lose weight and gain fuel economy but still plastic is cheaper than metal and when you get in an accident they just plug and play on the repairs. So why does it cost more for repairs & insurance rates?
