Do you remember what it was and how much you paid for it?.

Mine was a standard brown Honda civic. Bought it used in 1980-82, $ 4000.00 - 5 years old. Crashed it after 6 months.

Teenage driver back then.

Can't remember that far but I do remember that it helped attract the chicks.

1970 dodge dart with a whopping 225 slant six.......$120.00

That was back when you could get a decent certified car for between $100 - $200.00

Funniest car I ever owned? 1980 dodge omni 024. banana yellow, yellow wheels, plaid interior. I was searching hi and lo for zebraskin seat covers......I called it my bananamobile......and yeah, I got more chicks with that than my jet black celica gts lol....

(I shit you not, I went to pick up this hottie and she drove a nice grand prix...I said "let's take your car", NO way, I wanna ride in the bananamobile!!) (and yeah, she got the banana lol)

1965 VW Beetle. 600,000 MILES on it, paid $350 or so. Drove it for about a year until the body rusted off the frame.

omg this thread brings tears to my eyes

my 1st car was a Hornet (lol yes AMC Hornet) green, my father gave to me

i booted around Thunder Bay delivering pizzas, then my parents moved out west and I followed. I drove out to Vancouver when I was 19, the windshield wipers (motor) wasnt working...I fixed it by tying string to each wiper long enough to put through windows in car and yes it was manual...lmao

then when i was going through the mountains, the brakes started to give out....i recall putting a whats it called not a twist tie but 1 of those that snap in ties on the brake pedal ..i made it to Vancouver, then I traded the car to my dads friend for $80 and bought a camera cuz Vancouver was just so beautiful

LOL, I did the same with mine. Mind you it wasn't even close to 600,000 miles but it caved in when I was driving through the Metropolitan highway back in the early 80's.

1929 Essex Coupe with rumble seat, wooden spoke wheels. Engine needed rebuild. Bought it for $50 at age 15 with ambition to restore it. Never got very far on that project. Somebody offered me $300 for it a year later. Took the cash and put it into a '54 Olds convertible, 440 cubes and a Hurst four on the floor.

Back then cars were the Hobby. Never occurred to me to invest in SPs.
