ok, going along with the conscience theme thread:

I was driving to work yesterday and this guy wrote the morning crew a letter.

In it he stated that he just got married and his wife and he were off to cuba for their honeymoon.....they hoped to make a baby while there....he went on to say that (can you BELIEVE this shit?) his new wife told her folks about their trip and THE INLAWS BOUGHT A VACATION AT THE SAME RESORT AT THE SAME TIME AS THEM!!!

The guy said that he couldn't bring it up cuz he'd look like the bad guy......

HOLY FUCKING CHRIST...talk about the galll..........

Ok, here's my take on it:

If they/he got along famously with the inlaws and they said that they'd leave the newlyweds alone and only booked the trip because they got a great deal, then that isn't a problem really as long as that is the truth.....(I've had some inlaws where i got along really well with her folks, so much so that I almost stayed in touch with the folks after we broke up)

I highly doubt the above is the case however.....

Since it is most likely the inlaws are way overstepping boundaries my advice would be to nip this in the bud right fucking now.....I'd say to my wife, tell you folks to postpone their trip or we'll postpone ours.....if she says no way, then I'd tell him to say: if you don't tell them I will....if she still won't say a thing I'd call up the travel agency and change the date....if they couldn't? I'd say...i'm staying home.....

If they're the type to do this shit then his life is in for a living hell.......

what do you guys (and girls) say?

I think it's best to let it go this and see how it works out this one time. If he does what you are suggesting they will hate their son in law and the relationship with go to shits.

OH Boy he is fucked. Is she their only daughter are they the old fashioned folks?.

I'd bang her in front of the parents.
That'll learn them.

Is it like a 5000 room hotel in Vegas, or a villa in Cuba. Big difference.

No, wait... No difference at all. I wouldn't even talk to my wife about it, I'd be on the phone in one second flat figuring that shit out and bluntly stating that they overstepped their bounds. Either fix it or I annul the marriage 'cause I ain't doin' a lifetime of this shit.

dunno about the size of the report, the letter to the morning crew just contained the information i posted....

I'm with player on this one, this IS a deal breaker for me.....if he doesn't do something about it now, the rest of his life will be like this.....

No way the dude should man up and tell his wife.

Even better he should call the in laws and tell them they are not welcome.

I have a hard time understanding how parents will intrude on their kids first week together.

The parents must be out of date on manners or not educated enough on the proper ethics of North America.

So what is the ethnicity of the bride?

they didn't say, but since this is muskoka, and we have maybe 10 people non-white, I'd say they are white......

lol well, this IS muskoka lol........not the hotbed of cultured society.....

Wow, the fact they just did it without asking says a lot especially because they are newly-weds. The situation may be different for a couple being married for sometime but to tag along with newly-weds that is out of line. The marriage is doomed!!

Bet ya Jehovah Witness.

He should phone his new father-in-law and tell him that they want to be alone on their honeymoon.

And maybe find out if his new wife had anything to do with it...

I could see it going something like this:

hello debra (not her real name), it's mom
d: hi mom, what's up
m: well, your father and i just booked the same vacation as you
d: oh boy, that's awesome!

can you imagine if it went like that? If I were he, and i found that out I'd say to her: you are definitely NOT the woman I thought you were. Then I'd walk into the bedroom, pack my bags and say "see ya".....

I have mentioned on here how I dated a greek yl and she wouldn't stand up to her meddling family at all. Oh she'd put in a cursory effort once or twice, but not seriously. ANYone in her family says jump? She drops everything no matter what and comes running.....(this is the mother who said I was nothing......)

One thing to remember is blood is thicker than water. The family will usually take the child (regardless of age) back in a divorce where spouses can come and go but I'd still be pissed if my inlaws pulled a stunt like this without it being planned.
