LIGHTHOUSE COVE, Ont. – A six-year-old girl suffered serious injuries after being hit by a vehicle shortly after 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Lakeshore OPP said preliminary investigation revealed a nine-year-old boy was sitting in the driver's seat of a 1999 GMC Savana van when he put the vehicle into reverse. OPP said the van hit a six-year-old girl.

She was taken to the Chatham hospital by ambulance and is being transported by regular to ambulance to a London hospital with serious injuries, OPP said.

Lighthouse Cove is located on the eastern shore of Lake Huron.
