Very long story short...I have a picture that is not hanging level. Instead of putting another hole in the wall, I want to somehow make the hook itself thicker so it will hang properly. Any thoughts on how to do that? I'm thinking maybe wrap string around it until it's the right thickness? Or tape?

I can't help thinking Tboy would say just to put another hole in the wall, but I really don't want to. Any thoughts?

Hang the picture 1" higher than it currently is. Yes....I know, it's another hole in your wall. Have you tried getting a thicker nail end for the hook?

What something like a cap style pencil eraser? A straw, old pen barrel, some rag wrapped around the nail?

Or instead of making a new hole, what about just put a larger diameter hanger through the same hole?

Apply Super Glue all along the backside of the picture. Press against the wall exactly how you want it, hold for 1 minute!

Thanks for all the input. I think maybe a thicker nail is the way to go. It's only off by maybe 1/8", I'm not putting another hole in the wall for that.

I'll let you know how it turns out. Thanks again. :biggrin2:

Is it drywall? You could put one of those plastic expansion anchors in and a screw.

I don't get it. Is your picture hanging from a string-wire or from the back of it. Can you just not move the picture to make it even?.

No wire, just one hook on each side.

The long story is this...I ordered a multi-picture frame online, picked it up at the store, and the next day realized that somehow between the store and my dining room, I had cracked the glass. I had already measured and put the nails in the wall at this point, so I hung it just to test and make sure the nails were in the right place. It was perfect, completely level.

I bought another of the exact same frame, put my pictures in it, and hung it. Alas, apparently the hook placement is not completely standard, because the new frame is not level. Aha, I thought, I will just take the glass from the new frame and put it in the old (level) frame, problem solved. Until I actually dismantled the broken frame and found the glass actually glued to the frame. sigh, another flash of brilliance wasted.

So until I get this fixed, I am annoyed daily by it not being level. I will let you all know how it turns out, I appreciate all the ideas.

Yes, it's drywall, but I really hesitate to use those expansion anchors in an apt. because I don't want to damage the wall when I leave.

How about adding an adhesive hanger to assist in the leveling? Not a main support, just something to help out?

Tape the nail with electrical tape. Should give you the extra 1/8".

um, not yet. It's off the wall, but I keep forgetting to buy the tape. Hopefully the big empty space on the wall will help me remember tomorrow. Funky & Music

Does it have to be electrical tape? I have scotch tape, can I use that? Will it be an issue that it is sometimes humid in here?
